Sheila Atienza is an award-winning independent filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC. She has been actively working on several short films that she herself wrote, directed, performed and co-produced.
Most of her film projects are experimental in nature yet usually follow a narrative. She usually focuses on one-character micro-short films. In fact, Sheila has produced, written and directed the original, indie experimental short film, Mary and Mariana's Diary.
In the said film, Sheila earned for herself several awards, including the 2018 Diamond Award of California Film Awards' Best Short Film Competition. Sheila also earned the 2017 Award of Merit from Canada Short Film Festival and many official selections and various nominations, including Best Narrative Short (Barcelona Planet Film Festival), Best Actress (Barcelona Planet Film Festival) and No Budget Spirit Award (Top Indie Film Awards).

Sheila is amazed by the unconventional and alternative filmmaking techniques and approaches that can be explored in this digital era. Such approaches can be innovative, fun and practical, and that can be integrated in creating the entire film.
